What is BS EN 102252 - Weldable structural steels about?  

BS EN 10225 is a series of European standards on weldable structural steels that discusses its technical delivery conditions.  

BS EN 102252 is the second part of a series of documents. BS EN 102252 specifies requirements for weldable structural steels, in the form of sections (e.g. H-, I-, Z-sections, U-channels, angles and tees) excluding hollow sections, to be used in the fabrication of fixed offshore structures.

What’s changed since the last update?  

BS EN 10225 with BS EN 102251:2019, BS EN 102253:2019 and BS EN 102254:2019, supersedes BS EN 10225:2009, which is withdrawn 

  • The minimum design temperature of –10 °C specified for product use in the previous version of the standard has been removed. 
  • The distinction between primary and secondary applications has been removed (these terms are no longer included). 
  • New (totally different) grade designations from those previously employed in EN 10225:2009 have been introduced.
