BS EN 1994-1-1:2004 describes requirements for safety, serviceability and durability of composite steel and concrete structures. It also gives specific provisions for buildings. It is based on the limit state concept used in conjunction with a partial factor method.
For the design of new structures, BS EN 1994-1-1 is for direct application, together with other parts of BS EN 1994, Eurocodes BS EN 1990 to 1993 and Eurocodes BS EN 1997 and 1998.
