BS 8545:2014+A1:2026 provides recommendations for successfully transplanting young trees from the nursery stage through to achieving independence in the landscape. It covers the full process of planning, designing, producing, planting and managing young trees, ensuring they establish and thrive.

The current update is an amendment designed to align BS 8545 with BS 5837 (Trees in relation to design, demolition and construction) to avoid duplication or divergence and to bring clarity to technical changes since the original 2012 edition.

It also incorporates important edits related to climate change and the impact of changing environmental conditions on tree planting.
