What is BS EN 13765 - Thermoplastic multi-layer hoses and hose assemblies about?
BS EN 13765 is a European standard on thermoplastic multi-layer (non-vulcanized) hoses and hose assemblies which discusses the requirements that are useful in assembling the hoses and these hoses help in transferring the fluids and chemicals.
BS EN 13765 specifies requirements for four types of thermoplastic multi-layer (non-vulcanized) hoses and hose assemblies for carrying hydrocarbons, solvents, and chemicals. It specifies bore sizes from 25 mm to 300 mm, working pressures from 4 bar1) to 14 bar, and working temperatures from −30 °C to 150 °C.
Note: The attention of users is drawn to Annex A concerning the selection of the material for the inner wall of layers and any polymeric coating of the internal wire helix related to the chemical(s) to be conveyed by the hoses and/or hose assemblies.
Note: BS EN 13765 does not apply to hoses and hose assemblies for:
- Aircraft ground fueling and defueling
- Fuel dispensing
- Oil burners
- Liquefied petroleum gas and liquefied natural gas
- Fire fighting
- Offshore liquefied natural gas
- Refrigeration circuits
Who is BS EN 13765 - Thermoplastic multi-layer hoses and hose assemblies for?
BS EN 13765 on thermoplastic multi-layer hoses and hose assemblies is useful for:
- Chemical industries
- Gas stations
- Manufacturers of hoses
Why should you use BS EN 13765 - Thermoplastic multi-layer hoses and hose assemblies?
Thermoplastic hose is of a high level of contact strength between the layers of core, braid, and jacket. This contact is generated because thermoplastic materials can be re-melted during the production process allowing for both a chemical and mechanical bond.
BS EN 13765 helps in classifying the pressure and temperature range while assembling the hoses and this is classified according to the materials, compatibility, and fluids to be conveyed in these hoses. The materials and dimensions are mentioned in BS EN 13765 which is useful in constructing and assembling the hoses. The performance requirement described in BS EN 13765 helps in increasing the performance level of the hoses. This can result in manufacturing better-quality hoses. By performing the tests, you will be able to determine the design and materials used in assembling meets the requirement specified in BS EN 13765 or not.
With obedience and compliance to BS EN 13765, you can efficiently transfer the fluids from one place to another.
What’s changed since the last update?
