What is ISO 105-B06about?
ISO 105-B06 is the sixth part of multi-series ISO 105. ISO 105-B06 specifies a method for determining the colour fastness and ageing properties of all kinds and forms of dyed and printed textiles and/or other organic substrates under the action of an artificial light source representative of natural daylight (D65) and under the simultaneous action of heat. Of the five different sets of exposure conditions specified, four use D65, and the other one uses a lower cut-off wavelength. The test method gives special consideration to the light and heat conditions that occur in the interior of a motor vehicle.
ISO 105-B06 helps you improve the quality of your printed textiles.
Who is ISO 105-B06 for?
ISO 105-B06 on tests for colour fastness is useful for:
- Textile manufacturing industries
- Textile testing facilities
Why should you use ISO 105-B06?
Colourfastness is defined as the resistance of a fabric to change in any of its colour characteristics and to the transfer of its colourant (s) to adjacent materials during end-use. Ageing is the process that transforms the supersaturated solid solution to precipitate particles that can enhance the strength properties. Xenon arc testing promotes property changes of materials, including the effects of sunlight, moisture, and heat, by simulating ultraviolet and visible solar radiations by means of a weather meter.
ISO 105-B06 provides you with the test methods for determining colour fastness and ageing properties of all kinds of textiles through xenon arc testing.
ISO 105-B06 specifies the apparatus needed for performing the test, procedures of performing the test, and how should the test results should be noted. This will help you carry out the test effectively.
ISO 105-B06 helps you protect the textile from weather exposure, protection of textile colours against specific conditions such as water, light, rubbing, washing, etc. Artificial ageing helps to strengthen the properties of the textile. All these aspects improve the quality level and customers satisfaction.
What is changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 105-B06:2020 supersedes ISO 105-B06: 1998. BS EN ISO 105-B06:2020 includes some technical changes with respect to ISO 105-B06: 1998. These include:
- Dates in normative references have been removed
- Flat array apparatus for testing has been introduced
