What is BS EN 123506- Density of concrete about? 

BS EN 123506 is the sixth part of the multi-series standard which discusses the density of concrete for testing fresh concrete. 

BS EN 123506 specifies a method for determining the density of compacted fresh concrete both in the laboratory and in the field. 

Note- 

BS EN 123506 may not apply to very stiff concrete which cannot be compacted by normal vibration.

Why should you use BS EN 123506- Density of concrete? 

The mechanical properties of concrete are highly influenced by its density. A denser concrete generally provides higher strength and fewer amount of voids and porosity. The smaller the voids in concrete, becomes less permeable to water and soluble elements. 

BS EN 123506 gives you the principles of the Fresh concrete which is compacted into a rigid and watertight container of known volume and mass and is then weighed. 

Density containers and filling frames of BS EN 123506 are the common apparatus that is used for fresh concrete testing.
