What is BS EN 123504- Degree of compactability for testing fresh concrete about? 

BS EN 123504 is the fourth part of the multi-series standard which discusses the degree of compactability for testing fresh concrete. 

BS EN 123504 specifies a method for determining the consistency of fresh concrete by determining the degree of compactability. 

Note- 

If the degree of compactability is less than 1,04 or more than 1,46, the concrete has a consistency for which the degree of compactability test is not suitable.

Why should you use BS EN 123504- Degree of compactability for testing fresh concrete? 

Concrete is a structural material consisting of a hard, chemically inert particulate substance, known as aggregate (usually sand and gravel), that is bonded together by cement and water. 

BS EN 123504 provides you with the procedure for determining the degree of compactability. When the compaction container is full of fresh concrete, the top surface is struck off level with the top of the compaction container. The concrete is compacted by vibration and the distance from the surface of the compacted concrete to the upper edge of the compaction container is used to determine the degree of compactability.
