What is BS EN 16506 - RAPL for drains and sewers about?

BS EN 16506 is a European Standard on systems for renovation of drains and sewers.

BS EN 16506 specifies performance requirements and test methods for pipes and fittings for the renovation of underground drain and sewer systems by lining with a single rigid annulus of structural cementitious grout formed behind a plastics inner layer. This plastics layer serves as permanent formwork anchored to the grout.

BS EN 16506 is applicable to plastics’ inner layers and grout systems with or without steel reinforcement.

Note: BS EN 16506 does not apply to the structural design of the lining system.

Note: Systems with multiple annuli are available, but these are controlled by patent rights and not covered by BS EN 16506.

Why should you use BS EN 16506 - RAPL for drains and sewers

Uninterrupted functioning drains and sewers are vital for the efficient disposal of wastewater in a manner that does not present health and safety risks to the community.

BS EN 16506 provides you with guidelines to determine viable options for identification of the optimal technique with regard to a given set of renovation systems objectives.

BS EN 16506 provides guidance on appearance, materials, material characteristics of inner layers, material characteristics of the grout system, marking of plastics inner layers, and PE sheet material with integral anchors; for the reinforcement of drainage systems.

For each technique family, BS EN 16506 lists relevant existing standards, materials, and applications and outlines characteristics including installation aspects, structural, and site impact.

Individual techniques are classified into families where the different renovation technique families are defined and their respective features, including materials, applications, as well as geometric, performance, and installation characteristics, are described.

BS EN 16506 guides you with selecting suitable techniques for renovation, repair, and replacement of drains and sewers, as per the type of operation. Concerns of drain and sewer blockage, leakages, and overall product failures can thus be minimized. As a result, the operational integrity and reliability of external sewage systems can be maintained.   BS EN 16506 functions as your one-stop-shop for comparing and deciding on solutions that are best suited to your needs.
