What is BS EN 1337-6 - Structural rocker bearings about?

BS EN 1337-6 is the sixth part of the multiple series that specifies the requirements for the design and manufacture of rocker bearings. In order to accommodate displacements, rocker bearings can be combined with a sliding element in accordance with EN 1337-2

Note 1: Bearings which are subjected to rotation greater than 0,05 rad resulting from the characteristic combination of actions are outside the scope of BS EN 1337-6.

Note 2: BS EN 1337-6 does not apply to rocker bearings made with materials other than those specified in clause 5.

Who is BS EN 1337-6 - Structural rocker bearings for?

BS EN 1337-6 on structural rocker bearings is useful for:

  • Construction industries
  • Civil engineers
  • Architects
  • Manufacturers of rocker bearing
  • Builders
  • Contractors

Why should you use BS EN 1337-6 - Structural rocker bearings?

Rocker is a component with a curved convex surface formed on one face. The curved surface can be a portion of a cylinder or sphere.

BS EN 1337-6 specifies rocker bearing procedures for transferring vertical and horizontal forces between the superstructure and the substructure. BS EN 1337-6 specifies the load-bearing capacity of the rocker bearing that is obtained from the design verification as a function of the geometry and the steel properties.

BS EN 1337-6 benefits you to:

  • Identify procedures to demonstrate the conformity of the construction product at appropriate stages
  • Identify and record any instance of non-conformity
  • Identify procedures to correct instances of non-conformity
