What is ISO 209577 about?  

Fitness enthusiasts who prefer indoor workouts use rowing machines for a low-impact total body workout. ISO 209577 is the seventh part of a multi-series on stationary training equipment. ISO 209577 specifies safety requirements for stationary rowing equipment and is intended to be read in conjunction with general safety requirements. 

Note: ISO 209577 applicable to rowing type stationary training equipment, hereinafter referred to as rowing equipment, within the classes H, S and I and classes A, B and C regarding accuracy.

Why should you use ISO 209577?

BS EN ISO 209577:2021 supersedes EN 9577:1998, which is withdrawn.BS EN ISO 209577:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to EN 9577:1998. These include: 

  • The formulation has been aligned  
  • Explanations have been added 
  • Requirements on display/power accuracy testing have been added  
  • Clause 7 (test report) has been added
