What is BS EN 13284-1 - Manual gravimetric method about ?

BS EN 13284-1 is the first part of the multi-series European standard that specifies the standard reference method (SRM) for the measurement of low dust concentration in ducted gaseous streams in concentrations below 50 mg/m3 at standard conditions.

BS EN 13284-1 is primarily developed and validated for gaseous streams emitted by waste incinerators. More generally, it can be applied to gases emitted from other stationary sources, and to higher concentrations.

If the gases contain unstable, reactive or semi-volatile substances, the measurement depends on the sampling and filter treatment conditions.

This method described in BS EN 13284-1 has been validated in field tests with special emphasis on dust concentrations around 5 mg/m3. The results of the field tests are presented in Annex A.

Who is BS EN 13284-1 - Manual gravimetric method for ?

BS EN 13284-1 on stationary waste emissions is relevant to:

  • Product Engineers
  • Chemical Engineers
  • Manufacturers of furnaces
  • Industries using furnaces and gas towers
  • Researchers and scientists

Why should you use BS EN 13284-1 - Manual gravimetric method ?

The gravimetric method involves converting the constituent found in the sample into a substance that can be weighed separately.

BS EN 13284-1 provides a standard reference method (SRM) is specified for determining low dust concentrations in ducted gaseous streams in the concentration range below 50 mg/m3 under standard conditions. This European Standard is primarily designed and validated to measure the low dust concentrations in gaseous streams.

BS EN 13284-1 provides test methods for determining the low range mass concentration of dust using the manual gravimetric method.

Overall, BS EN 13284-1 provides manufacturers with information and test methods for determining the low range mass concentration using different methods and procedures that help reduce pollution caused by harmful gases that are emitted into the atmosphere.
