What is BS EN 172552 about?

BS EN 17255 discusses stationary source emissions on data acquisition and handling systems (DAHS). BS EN 172552 is the second part of the multi-series on stationary source emissions that gives specifications of requirements on data acquisition and handling systems.

BS EN 172552 specifies the performance requirements on data acquisition and handling systems. The input data can be either in analogue representation or in digital form directly from an AMS or via a digital bus system. Inputs can include the data from the AMS, peripheral data needed for calculation of the reported values and information on plant conditions needed to apply data selection criteria.

Who is BS EN 172552 for?

BS EN 172552 on stationary source emissions on Data acquisition and handling systems is useful for:

  • Any organization or manufacturing plant that wants to monitor its emission rates
  • Creators of the data acquisition and handling system

Why should you use BS EN 172552?

Monitoring emissions is an important part of acquiring and reporting environmental impact data. The data acquisition and handling system is a monitoring system that you can install in your manufacturing plants to monitor your emissions. The data acquisition and handling system (DAHS) receives the raw data, as they are measured, averaged, and presented by the AMS, and converts, averages, stores and reports data as required by legislation.

BS EN 172552 forms part of a series of standards which, between them, govern the process for the quality assurance of data received by a data acquisition and handling system from automated measuring systems (AMS), is used for monitoring emissions from stationary sources and quality ensured to EN 14181.

BS EN 172552 specifies the performance requirements on data acquisition and handling systems regarding implementation of the procedures defined in EN 172551 including data acquisition data processing, data storage, data output, generation of reports, system functions, data integrity, documentation. BS EN 172552 helps you to manage and mitigate environmental risks by helping you to record your emissions in a quantitative format.
