What is BS EN 17476 about?
BS EN 17476 discusses LPG appliances. BS EN 17476 focuses on the construction characteristics, performances and marking related to safety and the rational use of energy of portable, flat gas appliances directly supplied at the LPG vapour pressure, complying with EN 417:2012, incorporating a gas cartridge inserted horizontally in the chassis.
BS EN 17476 covers appliances for outdoor or in well-ventilated areas only. For example, cooking appliances such as stoves and barbecues, and heating appliances.
BS EN 17476 specifies the requirements applicable to these appliances or their functional sections whether the latter are independent or incorporated into an assembly. Appliances covered BS EN 17476 are not connected to a flue for the discharge of products of combustion and are not connected to the mains electricity supply.
Note 1: BS EN 17476 does not cover appliances of the direct pressure propane category.
Note 2: BS EN 17476 covers neither appliances supplied with LPG in the liquid phase nor appliances with fixed integral containers which could be refilled by the user.
Note 3: BS EN 17476 does not cover appliances supplied by an external gas source.

BS EN 17476 guidelines help you to manufacture LPG vapour pressure appliances that can withstand mechanical, chemical and thermal actions to which they may be submitted during use. In normal conditions of operation, of cleaning or of adjustment, they are not liable to any alterations which might impair their safety.
The design of these LPG appliances makes it impossible to incorrectly fit or refit any user-removable or replaceable parts or components that can have an adverse effect on combustion or cause CO emissions to exceed limits.
