What is BS EN 16602-60 - Electrical, electronic, and electromechanical (EEE) components about?  

BS EN 16602-60 defines the requirements for selection, control, procurement, and usage of EEE components for space projects. BS EN 16602-60 differentiates between three classes of components through three different sets of standardization requirements (clauses) to be met. 

The requirements of BS EN 16602-60 apply to all parties involved at all levels in the integration of EEE components into space segment hardware and launchers. BS EN 16602-60 may be tailored for the specific characteristics and constraints of a space project in conformance with ECSS-S-ST-00. The requirements of BS EN 16602-60 are applicable to the EEE parts they incorporate and to microwave switches having a simple design (single EEE part).

Why should you use BS EN 16602-60- Electrical, electronic, and electromechanical (EEE) components?  

The objective of the EEE component selection, control, procurement, and use requirements is to ensure that EEE components used in a space project enable the project to meet its mission requirements. 

BS EN 16602-60 has been developed to cover specifically space systems and has therefore precedence over any EN covering the same scope but with a wider domain of applicability (e.g.: aerospace). The customer of a given space project defines the EEE component requirements within the boundaries of BS EN 16602-60. The supplier shall establish and implement throughout the duration of the business agreement is a component program that ensures that the requirements of the project as defined by the customer and the supplier in the related business agreement are in compliance with BS EN 16602-60.
