1 Scope

andapolicyfordesignmargins. Bothnaturalandman- madesourcesofradiation (e.g.radioisotopethermoelectricgenerators, orRTGs) areconsideredinthestandard.
Thisstandardappliestotheevaluationofradiationeffectsonallspacesystems.
Thisstandardappliestoallproducttypeswhichexistoroperateinspace, aswellastocrewsofmannedspacemissions.
Thestandardaimstoimplementaspacesystemengineeringprocessthatensurescommonunderstandingbyparticipantsinthedevelopmentandoperationprocess
(includingAgencies, customers, suppliers, anddevelopers) anduseofcommonmethodsinevaluationofradiationeffects.
