1 Scope
ThisECSSEngineeringStandardspecifiesthefracturecontrolrequirementstobeimposedonspacesegmentsofspacesystemsandtheirrelatedGSE.
ThefracturecontrolprogrammeisapplicableforspacesystemsandrelatedGSEwherestructuralfailurecanresultinacatastrophichazardinaccordancewiththedefinitionof ECSS‑Q‑ST‑40 oralternativeapplicabledocumentspecifiedbythecustomerlikethoseapplicabletotheISSorExplorationsystemsorpayloads.
TherequirementscontainedinthisStandard, whenimplemented, alsosatisfythefracturecontrolrequirementsapplicabletotheNASAandISShardware.
TheNASAnomenclaturediffersinsomecasesfromthatusedbyECSS. WhenISSorExploration-specificrequirementsandnomenclatureareincluded, theyareidentifiedassuch.
Thisstandardmaybetailoredforthespecificcharacteristicandconstrainsofaspaceprojectinconformancewith ECSS‑S‑ST‑00.
