What is ISO 14946 about?
ISO 14946 discusses on maximum load capacity of small craft. ISO 14946 specifies the items included in the maximum load of small craft, without exceeding the limits set by other ISO standards for stability, freeboard, and flotation.
ISO 14946 specifies the requirements for seating and occupancy areas of crew members to meet all applicable safety.

What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 14946:2021 supersedes BS EN ISO 14946:2001. BS EN ISO 14946:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN ISO 14946:2001. These include:
- In clause 3, definitions have been updated, the occupancy area has been clarified and figure 1 has been added
- In clause 5, it has been clarified that the ballast in maximum load mml does not include ballast for the manufacturer to meet ISO 12217 (all parts)
- Clause 6 and clause 7 have been added for greater clarity
- In clause 8, the owner’s manual reference has been updated
