What is ISO 8849 about?
ISO 8849 discusses standards for electrically operated bilge pumps for small craft. ISO 8849 applies to direct current (DC) bilge pumps that operate at a nominal voltage not exceeding 50 V, and single-phase alternating current (AC) bilge pumps that operate at a nominal voltage not exceeding 250 V.
ISO 8849 focuses on the requirements for electrically operated bilge pumps intended for use in removing bilge water.
Note: ISO 8849 does not include pumps intended for damage control.
