1 Scope
This British Standard gives recommendations for the installation in new residential park homes, transportable accommodation units and caravan holiday homes of:
freestanding biomass and solid fuel fire appliances having a rated output of ≤7 kW, verified to confirm that the surface temperature of the hearth does not exceed 100 °C;
freestanding biomass and solid fuel cooking appliances with a rated heat output to the room of ≤7 kW, verified to confirm that the surface temperature of the hearth does not exceed 100 °C; and
biomass and solid fuel central‑heating appliances, having a rated output of ≤25 kW, verified to confirm that the surface temperature of the hearth does not exceed 100 °C.
This British Standard does not cover:
installation of open fires;

installation in camping pods of a) to c); or
installation in leisure accommodation vehicles, except caravan holiday homes.
NOTE 2 This British Standard is relevant to the retrofitting or upgrading of solid fuel appliances in existing park homes or holiday caravans; however, such retrofitting or upgrading includes potential hazards such as asbestos, legacy materials, and structural degradation.
NOTE 1 A camping pod is a leisure accommodation manufactured in accordance with BS 8642, suitable for use as temporary or seasonal holiday accommodation.
