What is BS 6783-14 – Nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys about?

BS 6783-14 standard is a part of the BS 6783 series that discusses the methods for the determination of total boron content of nickel and nickel alloys for the sampling and analysis of nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys. Nickel alloys containing 72-83% nickel have the best soft magnetic properties and are used in transformers, inductors, magnetic amplifiers, magnetic shields and memory storage devices.

BS 6783-14 specifies a molecular absorption spectrometric method for the determination of the total boron content in the range of 4 g/t to 240 g/t in nickel and nickel alloys.

Who is BS 6783-14 – Nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys for?

BS 6783-14 on curcumin molecular absorption spectrometry applies to:

  • Manufacturer of nickel alloy
  • Quality testing personnel
  • Engineers

Why should you use BS 6783-14 – Nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys?

Nickel alloys containing 72-83% nickel have the best soft magnetic properties and are used in transformers, inductors, magnetic amplifiers, magnetic shields and memory storage devices.

BS 6783-14 provides the sampling and sample preparation for the determination of the total boron content of nickel, and nickel alloys in which the sampling and preparation of the laboratory sample are carried out by normal procedures or in the case of a dispute. The laboratory sample is normally in the form of millings or drillings. This helps you in the sampling and analysis of nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys as the laboratory sample contains particles or pieces of widely varying sizes, the test sample is obtained by riffling.

BS 6783-14 provides you with comprehensive guidance useful throughout the process of the method for the determination of total boron content of nickel, and nickel alloys by curcumin molecular absorption spectrometry for sampling and analysis of nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys.
