What is BS 6783-2 – Nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys about?

BS 6783-2 standard is a part of the BS 6783 series that discusses the determination of nickel in ferronickel for sampling and analysis of nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys. Nickel alloys containing 72-83% nickel have the best soft magnetic properties and are used in transformers, inductors, magnetic amplifiers, magnetic shields and memory storage devices.

BS 6783-2 specifies a gravimetric method for the determination of the nickel content of ferronickel in the range of 15 to 60 % (m/m).

Who is BS 6783-2 – Nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys for?

BS 6783-2 on the determination of nickel alloys applies to:

  • Manufacturer of nickel alloys
  • Quality testing personnel
  • Design engineers

Why should you use BS 6783-2 – Nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys?

Nickel alloys containing 72-83% nickel have the best soft magnetic properties and are used in transformers, inductors, magnetic amplifiers, magnetic shields and memory storage devices.

BS 6783-2 provides you with guidance on the principle for the determination of nickel in the filtrates by atomic absorption spectrometry. BS 6783-2 also provides guidance regarding sampling and the preparation of the laboratory sample carried out by normal agreed procedures or in case of a dispute. This helps you in sampling and analysis of nickel, ferronickel and nickel alloys.

With BS 6783-2 you can be ensured that the products consistently meet and exceed quality assurance targets.
