What is BS 6200-3.10.5 – Iron and steel about? 

BS 6200-3.10.5 standard is a part of the BS 6200 series that discusses the volumetric method of ferrochromium for sampling and analysis of iron, steel and other ferrous metals. Ferrochrome uses around 18% of chrome is used per unit content of stainless steel. Ferrochrome is also used when more chromium is needed to be added to carbon steel. 

BS 6200-3.10.5 describes a volumetric method for the determination of chromium in ferrochromium. The method applies to high and low carbon grades of ferrochromium but is not recommended for high silicon grades containing more than 4 % (m/m) of silicon. 

Note: The method does not apply to alloys containing vanadium unless the alternative titrant is used.
