What is PD IEC TR 60825‑5 - Manufacturer’s checklist of laser products about?
PD IEC TR 60825 is a series of international standards for the safety of laser products that helps in maintaining the manufacturer’s checklist which is useful in producing the safety laser products.
PD IEC TR 60825‑5 is the fifth part of the safety of laser products in multi-series that ensures the safety of end-users.
PD IEC TR 60825‑5 is applicable to laser products as described in IEC 60825-1:2014.
The checklist is intended for use by manufacturers of laser products and their agents to establish that each new or modified design complies with the requirements of
IEC 60825-1:2014. The checklist is used in conjunction with IEC 60825-1, as relevant clauses and subclauses in IEC 60825-1 are referred to in the text.
The layout of the checklist is intended only as a guide. Manufacturers and examiners are encouraged to produce their own document, omitting questions and clauses that are not relevant to the types of the product under examination, but noted in the appropriate positions and the numbers of such clauses stating, for example: "Subclause 9.11.1: Question omitted – not applicable".
Who is PD IEC TR 60825‑5 - Manufacturer’s checklist of laser products for?
PD IEC TR 60825‑5 on the safety of laser products is useful for:
- Manufacturers of laser devices
- Manufacturers of electronic devices
- Electrical and mechanical engineers
Why should you use PD IEC TR 60825‑5 - Manufacturer’s checklist of laser products?
Laser products emit radioactive rays which are harmful to your eyes and skin.
PD IEC TR 60825‑5 helps in identifying the person who is inspecting examining and classifying the safety precautions taken in manufacturing as well as ensuring the safety of laser products.
The classification procedures mentioned in PD IEC TR 60825‑5 helps in determining the hazardous substances that are used while producing the laser products.
Labelling for radiation is set out in PD IEC TR 60825‑5 which is useful in classifying the warning label on the laser products if the products contain harmful radiations that can be harmful to the end-users.
With, PD IEC TR 60825‑5 you could reduce the possibility of injury by minimising unnecessary accessible radiation, providing improved control of laser radiation hazards through protective features, and providing safe usage of laser products by identifying user control measures.
What’s changed since the last update?
