What is ISO 3865 about?
ISO 3865 is an international standard for rubber that specifies the test methods which evaluates the staining of organic material by using vulcanized rubber.
ISO 3865 specifies three methods for estimating the staining of organic finishes (subsequently referred to as “organic material”) by vulcanized or thermoplastic rubber, as defined in Clause 3:
- Method A: contact staining and migration staining
- Method B: extraction staining
- Method C: penetration staining

BS ISO 3865:2020 supersedes BS ISO 3865:2005. BS ISO 3865:2020 includes some technical changes with respect to BS ISO 3865:2005. The main change to the previous edition is that the list of normative references is updated in Clause 2.
