What is ISO 4141-2- High performance sheathed cables about?

ISO 4141-2 specifies the test methods and requirements for high performance sheathed multi-core cables for the connection of towing and towed vehicles, suitable for a temperature range of class A and class B, defined in ISO 67221:2011.

Test the strength of your High performance sheathed cables using ISO 4141-2

Who is ISO 4141-2- High performance sheathed cables for?

BS ISO 4141-2:2019 on test methods and requirements for high performance sheathed cables is useful for:

  • Towing cable manufacturers and suppliers
  • Towing winch manufacturers
  • Vehicle manufacturers

Why should you use ISO 4141-2- High performance sheathed cables?

Adhering to ISO 4141-2 can save the user from complicated iterative process of cable length adjustment resulting in sag, caused due to difference in temperatures.

ISO 4141-2 specifies test methods to cable manufacturers to measure the impact of pressure at high temperature, cyclic bending and fluid compatibility of the sheath. Which helps them improve the quality of their product.

ISO 4141-2 lays out specific test requirements for coiled multi core cables to measure their elongation by cable weights and cable sag which can be used by the manufacture to make more durable cables.

What’s changed since the last update?

BS ISO 4141-2 is the third edition that cancels and replaces the second edition (ISO 41412:2006), which has been technically revised. The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:

  • Temperature range of cable defined as Class A and Class B in 6.4.2, 6.5.1, 6.5.2
  • Test 6.6 added
