What is ISO 126142 about?

ISO 126142 specifies the performance and general test methods of liquefied natural gas fuel system components, intended for use on the types of motor vehicles as defined in ISO 3833.

ISO 126142 is also applicable to other LNG-fuelled motor vehicles as far as appropriate, until any specific norm is worked out for such a type of vehicle.

ISO 126142 provides general design principles and specifies requirements for instructions and marking.

NOTE-

ISO 126142 is not applicable to the following:

  • Fuel containers
  • Stationary gas engines
  • Container mounting hardware
  • Electronic fuel management
  • Refueling receptacles

Who is ISO 126142 for?

ISO 126142 on performance and general test methods for liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel system components is applicable to:

  • Manufacturers of LNG vehicles
  • Manufacturers of liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel system components
  • Vehicle regulatory authorities
  • Vehicle repair shops

Why should you use ISO 126142?

ISO 126142 contains tests to check the safety and durability of liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel system components. These tests include the bending moment, hydraulic strength, leakage and excess torque resistance. These tests will help you manufacture durable fuel system components.

ISO 126142 provides a method to check the vibration resistance of the fuel system components. ISO 126142 makes sure that all components with moving parts will remain undamaged and will continue to operate and meet the requirements of their leakage tests and hydrostatic strength test after vibration, carried out according to test procedure.

What’s changed since the last update?

BS ISO 126142:2021 edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 126142:2014), which has been technically revised.

The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
