What is ISO 155004 about?

ISO 155004 is part four of the multi-series standard that specifies tests and requirements for the manual valve, a compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel system component intended for use on the types of motor vehicles defined in ISO 3833.

ISO 155004 is applicable to vehicles (mono-fuel, bi-fuel, or dual-fuel applications) using natural gas in accordance with ISO 154031.

Note-

ISO 155004 is not applicable to the following:

  • Liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel system components located upstream of, and including, the vaporizer
  • Fuel containers
  • Stationary gas engines
  • Container-mounting hardware
  • Electronic fuel management
  • Refueling receptacles

Who is ISO 155004 for?

ISO 155004 on manual valve is useful for:

  • Compressed natural gas vehicle manufacturers
  • Compressed natural gas fuel system components manufacturers
  • Designers and manufacturers of manual valve
  • Vehicle maintenance and repair shops

Why should you use ISO 155004?

ISO 155004 gives you marking instructions that will allow you to identify and trace the manual valve in the supply chain.

ISO 155004 specifies hydrostatic strength test to establish the strength of the manual valve. This test will help you make the manual valve more durable.

ISO 155004 lays out guidelines for the construction and assembly of the manual valve.

ISO 155004 provides tests to check the applicability, continued operation, leakage, and valve stem retention. These tests will help you manufacture high-quality manual valves.

What’s changed since the last update?

BS ISO 155004:2020 is the third edition that cancels and replaces the second edition (ISO 155004:2012), which has been technically revised. It also incorporates the Amendment ISO 155004:2012/Amd.1:2016.

The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:

  • Serial number or data code becomes mandatory in marking
  • Update of 6.4 "continued operation"
  • Added test for "valve steam retention"
