What is ISO 15500‑19 about?
ISO 15500‑19 is part of the multi-series standard that specifies tests and requirements for fittings, compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel system components intended for use on the types of motor vehicles defined in ISO 3833.
ISO 15500‑19 is applicable to vehicles (mono-fuel, bi-fuel or dual-fuel applications) using natural gas in accordance with the ISO 15403 series.
NOTE-
ISO 15500‑19 is not applicable to the following:
- Liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel system components located upstream of, and including, the vaporizer
- Fuel containers
- Stationary gas engines
- Container-mounting hardware
- Electronic fuel management
- Refuelling receptacles
Who is ISO 15500‑19 for?
ISO 15500‑19 on fittings is useful for:
- Compressed natural gas vehicle manufacturers
- Compressed natural gas fuel system components manufacturers
- Designers and manufacturers of fittings
- Vehicle maintenance and repair shops
Why should you use ISO 15500‑19?
ISO 15500‑19 gives you marking instructions that will allow you to identify and trace the fittings in the supply chain.
ISO 15500‑19 specifies hydrostatic strength test to establish the strength of fittings. This test will help you make the fittings more durable.
ISO 15500‑19 lays out guidelines for the construction and assembly of the fittings.
ISO 15500‑19 provides tests to check the applicability, continued operation, pull off and repeated assembly. These tests will help you manufacture high-quality fittings.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 15500‑19:2020 is the third edition that cancels and replaces the second edition (ISO 15500‑19:2012), which has been technically revised. BS ISO 15500‑19:2020 also incorporates the Amendment ISO 15500‑19:2012/Amd.1:2016.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- Serial number or data code became mandatory in marking
- Removed vibration resistance test clause and added reference to ISO 15500‑2
