What is ISO 3219‑1 about?

Who is ISO 3219‑1 for?

Why should you use ISO 3219‑1?
Basically, there are two measuring methods available in rheometry they are rotational tests and oscillatory tests. With rotational measurements the measuring bob turns in one direction, the user sets the shear rate profile, the different speeds of rotation and the rheometer determines the required shear stress. In oscillatory tests, the measuring system moves backwards and forwards at a set frequency and amplitude. The advantage of performing the test in such a way is that small strains are applied onto the sample allowing stiff and solid samples to be measured.
Rotational and oscillatory rheometry can get very technical and hence has to be understood in a uniform manner. This is where ISO 3219‑1 helps you by bringing together a basket of terms, definitions and symbols used in rotational and oscillatory rheometry. This simplifies your work and makes it easier for you to understand and absorb information as it follows a standardized format.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 3219‑1:2021 supersedes BS EN ISO 3219:1995, which will be withdrawn on publication of the rest of the 3219 series.
BS EN ISO 3219‑1:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN ISO 3219:1995. These are:

- New terms and definitions have been added
- Table 1 on symbols has been added
