Summary
PAS 72 specifies requirements for vessel operations and traceability in the sea fishing industry. It specifies requirements relating to fishing practices, vessel criteria, crew competence, environmental considerations and record maintenance.
It is applicable to the supply chain from the fisherman to the point of first sale.
PAS 72 was proposed through the Seafish Advisory Committee structure as a means of recognising responsible fishing practices for individual vessels operating in a mixed fishery, controlled under international agreements. It is meant to develop, promote and bring reward for good practice.
