Note: In addition to terms used in English and French, two of the three official ISO languages, ISO 17677‑1 give the equivalent terms in German; these are published under the responsibility of the member body for Germany (DIN). However, only the terms and definitions given in the official languages can be considered as ISO terms and definitions.

BS EN ISO 17677‑1:2019 supersedes BS EN ISO 17677‑1:2009, which is withdrawn. BS EN ISO 17677‑1:2019 includes some technical changes with respect to BS EN ISO 17677‑1:2009. These include:
