What is BS 4215-7 - Male electrode caps for resistance spot welding about?

BS 4215 is a series of British Standards that discusses resistance spot welding electrodes, electrode holders, and ancillary equipment. The main objective of the BS 4215 series is to provide best industry guidance on resistance-welding equipment to ensure they are fit for its intended application use.

BS 4215-7 is the seventh part of the BS 4215 series that specifies the dimensions and tolerances for male electrode caps for resistance spot welding when a female taper (see BS EN 21089:1992) is used to fix the electrode adaptor (see BS 4215-6).

BS 4215-7 only applies to electrode caps for which the electrode force Fmax, given for the diameter d1, does not exceed 4,0 kN.

Who is BS 4215-7 - Male electrode caps for resistance spot welding for?

BS 4215-7 on male electrode caps for resistance spot welding is useful for:

  • Male electrode caps manufacturers
  • Welding equipment manufacturers
  • Construction, automotive, mechanical industry
  • Sheet metal manufacturers
  • Manufacturers of pressure vessels
  • Aerospace industry

Why should you use BS 4215-7 - Male electrode caps for resistance spot welding?

Resistance welding is a method of joining metals by applying pressure and passing a high electric current through the metal combination, which heats up the welding joint and melts the metals together, forging them together.

BS 4215-7 provides you with best industry guidance on dimensions, tolerances requirements, and marking requirements as well as the designation for male electrode caps.

If you are a manufacturer of resistance-welding equipment, compliance with BS 4215-7 can ensure your male electrode caps play a positive role in the overall spot welding process.
