What is BS EN 16810 - Environmental Product declaration for resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings about

BS EN 16810 discusses resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings. BS EN 16682 European standard provides product category rules (PCR) for Type III environmental product declarations (EPD) for resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings.

BS EN 16810 standard applies to the following types of floor coverings:

  • Resilient floor coverings manufactured from plastics, linoleum, cork or rubber, including loose-laid mats

An EPD may be developed for single or individual products, product groups and average products.

Note1: BS EN 16810 standard does not deal with aggregation at the building level nor does BS EN 16810 describe the rules for applying EPD in a building assessment.

Note2: BS EN 16810 deals with a limited number of quantifiable predetermined parameters

Who is BS EN 16810 - Environmental Product declaration for resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings for ?

Why should you use BS EN 16810Environmental Product declaration for resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings

An EPD communicates verifiable, accurate, non-misleading environmental information for products and their applications, thereby supporting scientifically based, fair choices and stimulating the potential for market driven continuous environmental improvement. EPD information is expressed in information modules, which allow easy organization and expression of data packages throughout the life cycle of the product. The approach requires that the underlying data should be consistent, reproducible and comparable. The EPD is expressed in a form that allows aggregation (addition) to provide complete information for buildings.

BS EN 16810 is based on the principles laid down in BS EN 15804 and in ISO 14025 and modified to suit the specific needs of the product families addressed in the scope of this standard. BS EN 16810 provides a structure to ensure that all Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings processes are derived, verified and presented in a harmonized way.

BS EN 16810 European Standard provides the means for developing a Type III environmental declaration of resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings.
