Why should you use this published document?
When there’s a need for guidance on a subject not covered by the relevant Eurocode, a country can choose to publish documents that contain non-contradictory complementary information that supports the Eurocode.
This published document provides such information and is cited as a reference in the UK National Annex to BS EN 1991-1-7:2006+A1:2014. It refers to design values for accidental actions, in particular to risk assessments on impacts to supporting structures for bridges and on explosion protection.
It is recommended that that this PD is used alongside the following standards:
- BS EN 1991-1-7:2006+A1:2014 Eurocode 1. Actions on structures. General actions. Accidental actions
- NA+A1:2014 to BS EN 1991-1-7:2006+A1:2014 National Annex to Eurocode 1. Actions on structures. Accidental actions
What’s changed since the last update?
This amendment supersedes PD 6688-1-7:2009 which was withdrawn. It was changed in line with changes to the UK National Annex. Specifically the values in Table NA1 were updated to be consistent with Highways Agency standard BD 60/04.
