ISO 8178‑5 is applicable to reciprocating internal combustion engines for mobile, transportable and stationary installations excluding engines for vehicles primarily designed for road use.
ISO 8178‑5 is applicable to engines used, e.g., earth-moving machines and generating sets, and for other applications.

Why should you use ISO 8178‑5?
Reciprocating internal combustion engines is a device which converts chemical energy which is contained in a hydrocarbon into mechanical energy and also converts into the thermal energy of the waste gases that escape into the atmosphere.
ISO 8178‑5 provides various types of fuel properties such as carbon residue, crude oil, diesel fuel, liquefies petroleum gas (LPG), natural gas, methane.
