What is BS EN 14067-5 about?
BS EN 14067-5 is the fifth part of multiple series that establishes aerodynamic requirements, test procedures, assessment methods and acceptance criteria for operating rolling stock in tunnels.
Aerodynamic pressure variations, loads, micro pressure wave generation and further aerodynamic aspects to be expected in tunnel operation are addressed in BS EN 14067-5. Requirements for the aerodynamic design of rolling stock and tunnels of the heavy rail system are provided.
BS EN 14067-5 requirements apply to heavy rail systems only.
Who is BS EN 14067-5 for?
BS EN 14067-5 on requirements and assessment procedures for aerodynamics in tunnels is useful for:
- Researcher of rail/train aerodynamics
- Aerodynamics engineer
- Train operator
- Technical department or railway
- Manufacturer of train aerodynamics
- Transport industry
Why should you use BS EN 14067-5?
BS EN 14067-5 helps you to find out aerodynamic requirements, test procedures, assessment methods and acceptance criteria for operating rolling stock in tunnels.
BS EN 14067-5 enables you to define a clear interface between the subsystems of rolling stock and infrastructure in the heavy rail system.
The train-induced aerodynamic pressure variations inside tunnels need to be known and limited, therefore, two reference cases for rolling stock assessment are defined in BS EN 14067-5. It will allow you to limit the train-induced aerodynamic pressure variations inside tunnels.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN 14067-5:2021 supersedes EN 14067-5:2006+A1:2010, which is withdrawn
