What is ISO 3834-1 about?
ISO 3834-1 is the first part of a multi-standard specifies a general outline of the ISO 3834 series and criteria. These criteria are to be considered for the selection of the appropriate level of quality requirements for fusion welding metallic materials, among the three levels specified in ISO 3834-2, ISO 3834-3 and ISO 3834-4.
This part of ISO 3834 provides a comprehensive set of quality requirements for process controls related to all fusion welding processes of metallic materials, both in workshops and at field installation sites.
Note: ISO 3834-1 does not specify requirements for a total quality management system (QMS). However, Clause 6 identifies QMS elements where their inclusion complements the ISO 3834 series.
Who is ISO 3834-1 for?
ISO 3834-1 on fusion welding of metallic materials is applicable in the following industries:
- Quality managers/assessors
- Welding, brazing and soldering personnel and Engineers
- Manufacturers of pressure vessels
- Manufacturer of aircraft & aerospace
- Construction, automotive, mechanical Industries
- Shipbuilding industry
Why should you use ISO 3834-1?
Standardization in welding procedures is becoming more and more important due to the increasing quality and performance standards. As part of the series, ISO 3834-1 helps control the cost of manufacture and the quality of products, and to ensure sound, effective and efficient manufacture.
ISO 3834-1 helps internal and external organizations, including certification bodies, to assess a manufacturer’s ability to meet customer, regulatory or the manufacturer’s own requirements and helps manufacturers demonstrate their capability. Compliance with the standards informs customers that the quality and performance of the products are the best in industry.
ISO 3834-1 provides design considerations for welding joints, which can assist design engineers in creating well-designed products.
