What is BS EN 13087-4-Protective helmets retention system about?  

BS EN 13087 is a European standard on protective helmets that discusses the test method for protective helmets retention system to improve the effectiveness of the retention system. 

BS EN 13087-4 is the fourth part of the BS EN 13087 series that specifies methods of test for protective helmets. The purpose of these tests is to enable the assessment of the performance of the helmet as specified in the appropriate helmet standard.

What is changed since the last update? 

BS EN 13087-4:2012 supersedes EN 13087-4:2000, which is withdrawn. BS EN 13087-4:2012 has made some technical changes compared to the previous editions EN 13087-4:2000. These include: 

  • The normative references in Clause 2 and in the text have been updated. EN 960 has been dated throughout the text 
  • Update of cross-references. Sizes have been extended to size designations and between brackets EN 960:1994 equivalent code letters 
  • Annex ZA has been updated
