What is ISO 199353 about?  

ISO 199353 is the third in the multi-series of International Standards applicable to plastics for temperature modulated differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). 

ISO 199353 specifies a method for the separation of overlapping thermal transitions of plastics related to reversing and non-reversing heat flow rate, using temperature modulated differential scanning calorimetry. 

The procedure mentioned in ISO 19935-3 apply as long as special product standards or standards describing special atmospheres for conditioning of samples do not require alternate regulations.

Why should you use ISO 199353?  

Temperature modulated DSC differs from conventional DSC in allowing the total heat flow to be separated into reversing and non-reversing heat flow components.  

ISO 19935-3 provides a test technique for separating overlapping thermal transitions in order to generate comparable data for datasheets or databases, as well as for research.  

ISO 19935-3 can also be applied to quality assurance or to routine checks of raw materials and finished products, if desired. 

Conducting the temperature modulated DSC in compliance with ISO 19935-3 will allow you to distinguish between processes that overlap which can better interpret thermal properties such as crystallinity, melt temperature and heat fusion.   

ISO 19935-3 is also helpful in identifying weak transitions, as a result of which you can bring about improvements in the overall product development process.
