What is ISO 4574 – plasticizer absorption of PVC about?

Since pure PVC is brittle, it requires added plasticizers to make it flexible and to impart other desired properties. Unabsorbed plasticizer deprives the compound from achieving free flowability. Testing is required to determine the absorption rate.

ISO 4574 specifies a method for determining the hot plasticizer absorption of PVC polymers intended for general use by hot mixing in a planetary mixer and measuring the amount of plasticizer absorbed.
