What is ISO 20558-2 – PPS test specimens about ?
ISO 20558-2 describes methods for preparation of test specimens, as well as test methods to be used in determining the properties of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) moulding and extrusion materials. Requirements for handling test material and for conditioning both the test material before moulding and the specimens before testing are provided in ISO 20558-2.
Procedures and conditions for the preparation of test specimens, and procedures for measuring properties of the materials from which these specimens are made are described in ISO 20558-2. Properties and test methods which are suitable and necessary to characterize PPS moulding and extrusion materials are also listed in ISO 20558-2.

Why should you use ISO 20558-2 – PPS test specimens ?
The properties for PPS have been selected from the general test methods in ISO 103501. Other test methods in wide use for, or of particular significance to, these moulding and extrusion materials are also included in ISO 20558-2 as are the designatory properties specified in ISO 205581 (melt mass-flow rate or melt viscosity, density and tensile modulus).
To obtain reproducible and comparable test results, it is intended to use the methods of preparation and conditioning, the specimen dimensions and the test procedures specified in ISO 20558-2. Values determined will not necessarily be identical to those obtained using specimens of different dimensions or prepared using different procedures. Using ISO 20558-2 guidelines, you can provide your customers with superior quality extruded or moulded products.

BS EN ISO 20558-2:2019 supersedes EN ISO 20558-2:2019 which has been withdrawn. BS EN ISO 20558-2:2019 has been technically revised throughout.
