What is ISO 11413 - Assemblies between a polyethylene (PE) about?

ISO 11413 is an international standard on plastics pipes and fittings that discusses assemblies between a polyethylene (PE) pipe and an electrofusion fitting.

ISO 11413 specifies a method for the preparation of test pieces assembled from polyethylene (PE) pipes or spigot-ended fittings and electrofusion fittings (e.g. socket fittings such as couplers, or saddles).

Note: ISO 11413 covers parameters such as ambient temperature, fusion conditions, fitting and pipe dimensions, pipe configuration (coiled or straight pipe), taking into account the limiting service conditions.

Note: ISO 11413 can apply to pipelines of other shapes, e.g. re-rounded pipes, dependent on the manufacturer's instructions.

Who is ISO 11413 - Assemblies between a polyethylene (PE) pipe for?

ISO 11413 on plastics pipe fittings is useful for:

  • Manufacturers of plastics pipes
  • Mechanical engineers
  • Manufacturers of electric and electronic equipment

Why should you use ISO 11413 - Assemblies between a polyethylene (PE)?

To protect our environment from most ordinary harmful chemicals, Polyethylene (PE) pipe and an electrofusion pipe are necessary to carry potable water, wastewater, slurries, chemicals, hazardous wastes, and compressed gases.

ISO 11413 navigates you through the clearance between socket fitting and pipes as well as between saddle fittings and pipes.

ISO 11413 determines the fusion-jointing electrical parameters using energy, voltage and current tolerances.

ISO 11413 represents the dimensions of an electrofusion socket, assisting you with the preparation of Polyethylene (PE) pipe and electrofusion pipes and fittings.

ISO 11413 provides the conditions for the preparation of pipes and fittings.

Overall, ISO 11413 leads you through the design of electrofusion fittings, which are extensively used in gas distribution networks for polyethylene pipes due to their high coefficient of reliability, ensuring safety, connection speed, and cleanliness.

What’s changed since the last update?

BS ISO 11413:2019 supersedes BS ISO 11413:2008. BS ISO 11413:2019 includes some technical changes with respect to BS ISO 11413:2008. These include:

  • Normative references have been updated
  • Annex D has been technically revised.
