What is ISO 13954 about ?
ISO 13954 is an international standard that describes a peel test method for determining the decohesive resistance of polyethylene electrofusion socket assemblies for use in the distribution of fluids. This method is applicable to assemblies with nominal outside diameters greater than or equal to 90 mm.

Why should you use ISO 13954 ?
Peel decohesion test is the test to assess the cohesion of a PE pipe/electrofusion socket assembly by examination of the decohesion of the assembly by tensile stressing of a strip test piece under conditions that cause progressive peeling of the fused interface. The test is conducted at 23 °C ± 2 °C.
ISO 13954 provides requirements on apparatus used for test procedure which includes tensile-testing machine, shackle-type link and tensioning chain or wire rope (minimum length 300 mm).
ISO 13954 describes the preparation of peel test assembly and the test procedure on the preparation, number, conditioning and dimensions of the test pieces, including the free length of pipe projecting from the socket.
