What is ISO 19063‑2 about?
ISO 19063‑2 is the second part of a multi-series of international standards on impact-resistant polystyrene (PS-I) moulding and extrusion materials.
ISO 19063‑2 specifies the methods of preparation of test specimens and the test methods to be used in determining the properties of PS-I moulding and extrusion materials establishing the requirements for handling test material and for conditioning both the test material before moulding and the specimens before testing.
ISO 19063‑2 gives procedures and conditions for the preparation of test specimens and procedures for measuring properties of the materials from which these specimens are made and lists properties and test methods that are suitable and necessary to characterize PS-I moulding and extrusion materials.
The methods of specimen preparation and conditioning, the specimen dimensions and the test procedures specified herein are used to obtain reproducible and comparable test results.

Why should you use ISO 19063‑2?
Impact-resistant polystyrene (PS-I) is a rubber modified version of polystyrene that makes the thermoplastic incredibly durable, with a much higher impact resistance than its former compound.
ISO 19063‑2 provides the general requirement on the preparation of test specimens either injection moulding or compression moulding of PS-I moulding and extrusion materials.
ISO 19063‑2 also gives information on the treatment and conditioning of test specimens.
ISO 19063‑2 provides general properties and test conditions and also additional properties and test conditions of particular utility to PS-I moulding and extrusion materials.
Overall, BS EN ISO 190632 allows you to produce PS-I moulding and extrusion materials that are easy to bend and shape while remaining durable.
What’s changed since the last update?
ISO 19063‑2:2020 supersedes EN ISO 28972:2003. ISO 19063‑2:2020 includes some technical changes with respect to EN ISO 28972:2003.
