What is ISO 3547‑6 about?
ISO 3547 is an International Standard on plain bearings. ISO 3547‑6 is the sixth part of the multi-series of International Standard on plain bearings that is applicable to the plain bearings on wrapped bushes.
ISO 3547‑6 specifies, following ISO 12301, the checking of the inside diameter of wrapped bushes (see ISO 3547-2:2017, method C) and describes the necessary checking methods and measuring equipment.
Note: All dimensions in ISO 3547‑6 are given in millimetres except where otherwise noted/designated.
Note: The dimensions and tolerances of wrapped bushes are given in ISO 3547-1.
Note: Checking of the wall thickness is the subject of ISO 3547-7.
Note: Checking of the outside diameter of wrapped bushes is the subject of ISO 3547-5.
Who is ISO 3547‑6 for?
ISO 3547‑6 on wrapped bushes is relevant to:
- Plain bearings manufacturers
- Construction industry
- Automotive industry
Why should you use ISO 3547‑6?
Wrapped bushes in the free condition are flexible, but after insertion they adapt largely to the shape of the housing bore due to the interference between the outside diameter of the bush and the housing bore.
ISO 3547-6 identifies the presence of grease, dirt, burrs, and other similar components, as well as damage or deformation on the outside diameter and/or the split. As a result, this will help you in removing these impacts by cleaning the bearing prior to measurement, thereby maintaining accuracy in results.
Adopting the right checking methods and equipment in accordance with ISO 3547-6 for the inspection of the inside diameter of wrapped bushes can help you maintain flexibility of wrapped bushes even after insertion.
