What is PD IEC/TS 62915-Retesting of Photovoltaic (PV) modules about?

PD IEC/TS 62915 is a qualification approval standard that establishes a uniform approach to maintain type approval, design, and safety qualification of terrestrial PV modules that have undergone, or will undergo modification from their originally assessed design.

Changes in material selection, components, and manufacturing process can impact the electrical performance, reliability, and safety of the modified product. PD IEC/TS 62915 lists typical modifications and the resulting requirements for retesting based on the different test standards. It provides assistance; at some level, engineering judgment may be needed.

The test sequences provided in PD IEC/TS 62915 are selected to identify adverse changes to the modified product.

Who is PD IEC/TS 62915- Retesting of PV modules for?

PD IEC/TS 62915 on photovoltaic (PV) modules is applicable to:

  • PV modules manufacturers
  • Photoelectric device manufacturers
  • Solar power plants
  • Entities involved in solar energy engineering
  • Quality control and testing personnel
  • Certification bodies
  • Regulatory bodies

Why should you use PD IEC/TS 62915- Retesting of PV modules?

Any change in the design, materials, components, material combinations, manufacturers or processing of the PV module type family from the last tested version could require a repetition of some or all of the qualification tests, in order to maintain type and safety approval.

PD IEC/TS 62915 covers the modifications and their requirements for retesting.

If you are a manufacturer, qualification approval and retesting in compliance with PD IEC/TS 62915, you can demonstrate the reliability and credibility of your products to ensure they meet the adequate performance requirements. As a result, risks of electric shocks, disruptions, and overall product failure can be avoided.
