What is BS EN 14086 Gloss measurement of paper and board about?  

Gloss measurement uses visible light with a 75° angle of incidence on the paper surface. Gloss is a property that expresses the ability of a surface to show the gloss appearance or gloss quality. BS EN 14086 gives information about the importance, methodology and test methods of gloss which is one of the optical properties of the paper. 

BS EN 14086 specifies a photometric test method for the assessment of visual gloss by means of a reflectometer value measured at an angle of 45°. BS EN 14086 is applicable to plain paper and board surfaces of high gloss, commonly called glossy papers and boards, having reflectance values, measured according to BS EN 14086, above approximately 7. Materials containing optical brightening agents may be measured.
