What is BS EN 13027 - Metal packaging about?  

Efficient packaging is of great importance for the distribution and the protection of goods. Insufficient or inappropriate packaging can lead to damage or wastage of the contents of the pack. BS EN 13027 specifies the range of the capacities of the cans defined by their nominal gross-lidded capacities, their metal thickness not exceeding 0,49 mm. BS EN 13027 includes the nominal diameters linked to these capacities, these diameters being strongly recommended at the European level. 

Note: Light-gauge open-top metal containers for liquid products with added gas defined by their nominal filling volumes are the subject of an other European standard.
