What is ISO 11145 about?
ISO 11145 defines basic terms, symbols, and units of measurement for the field of laser technology. ISO 11145 helps unify the terminology and to arrive at clear definitions and reproducible tests of beam parameters and laser-oriented product properties.
Who is ISO 11145 for?
ISO 11145 on laser vocabulary is useful for:
- Laser equipment manufacturers
- Laser equipment employers
Why should you use ISO 11145?
ISO 11145 provides vocabulary and symbols that helps you to understand the terms used in laser technology. ISO 11145 will prevent any work hazards to you while working with the laser.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 11145:2018 supersedes BS ISO 11145:2016, which is withdrawn.
The following main changes:
- The term beam position has been renamed “beam centroid” and defined formally as a first order moment;
- The term beam ellipticity has been clarified;
- The term beam waist location has been included;
- The term optical resonator has been included;
- The term 10 % pulse duration has been generalized to a selected percentage pulse duration;
- The formula in the term beam diameter has been adjusted;
- The order of the terms has been adjusted
