What’s changed since the last update? 

BS EN IEC 62541-3:2020 supersedes BS EN 625413:2015, which is withdrawn. BS EN IEC 62541-3:2020 includes some technical changes with respect to the previous edition: 

  • Added a new improved approach for exposing structure definitions. An Attribute on the Data Type Node now simply contains a binary description 
  • Added new flags for Variables to indicate atomicity when reading or writing 
  • Added Roles and Permissions to allow configuration of a role-based authorization 
  • Added new data types: “Union”, “Decimal”, “options”, “Date String”, “Time String”,  “Duration String”, Normalized String”, “Decimal String”, and “Audio Data Type” 
  • Added definition on how to use the Modelling Rules Optional Place Holder and Mandatory Place Holder for Methods
